At Veko Lightsystems, sustainability is not a stand-alone project, but an integral part of our business operations and product development. As a manufacturer of industrial lighting solutions, we focus not only on energy-efficient products, but also on how they are produced, transported, installed, and used.

Energy-efficient solutions for the customer

Our largest CO₂ emissions occur during the use phase at the customer’s site. That is precisely why we invest heavily in efficient LED solutions and smart Light Management Systems. These ensure that lighting only operates when needed, helping companies save substantial amounts of energy and emissions. Innovations such as the new Magnus Narrow, which is 30% more efficient for higher warehouses, and our Light Management Solutions play a key role in this.

Sustainability as a strategic goal

Within the Fagerhult Group, of which Veko has been a part of since 2018, clear objectives have been set: a 30% reduction by 2030 and full CO₂ neutrality by 2045. Veko actively contributes to these goals by continuously collecting and reporting data. What once seemed a secondary topic is now firmly embedded in our strategy, with growing support across all departments.

Concrete steps in practice

In recent years, we have taken several initiatives that contribute to sustainability:

  • HVO fuel at our transport partner E. van Wijk, saving 90% in diesel consumption. Which is equivalent to nearly 65,000 kilos of CO₂ reduction.
  • Use of recycled aluminium and prefabricated installations, greatly reducing material waste and transport movements.
  • Renovation projects, in which existing light lines are retained and only components are replaced.
  • Awareness within the organization through a Sustainability Team that shares insights and increases engagement.

Prepared for stricter requirements

The market is increasingly demanding transparency, and European legislation such as CSRD and ESG standards are setting higher requirements for companies. This makes it essential for us to provide insight into the materials and processes we use, and the CO₂ footprint associated with them.

Working together towards a greener Veko

Although sustainability is gaining more attention, it is still developing within Veko. The establishment of a Sustainability Team marks an important first step in making the topic more widely embraced within the organization. At the same time, there is growing awareness that sustainability should not be a one-person effort, but a shared responsibility across the company. The fact that the data is now better understood and supported marks a significant milestone. From this foundation, Veko can continue to take further steps towards a more sustainable future in the coming years.
