Veko Lightsystems is growing and evolving and that’s reflected in our team. Recently, Maarten Fledderus joined the company as our new Head of Inside Sales. Time to get to know him, learn what drives him, why he chose Veko, and what he’s looking forward to.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

“I live in Rotterdam with my Swiss wife and our two children. After studying Business Administration, I entered the lighting industry straight away and have now built up twenty years of experience. I’ve worked with major players like OSRAM and Signify, mostly in innovative and fast-growing divisions where a start-up mindset was key. That’s where I expanded my expertise in sales and process improvement, helping teams perform at a higher level.”

 

What excites you most about working in sales?

“What continues to fascinate me is supporting people and helping them leverage their strengths. For me, processes, data, and systems are tools, not goals in themselves. They’re there to help a team thrive. I get a lot of satisfaction from building things together and raising the bar professionally.”

 

Why did you choose Veko Lightsystems?

“Veko is in an exciting growth phase. The opportunity to further optimise processes and help shape the organisation really appealed to me. From my first conversations, I noticed how passionate and committed the team is. The culture is open, authentic, and focused on collaboration exactly the environment that drives success in my view.”

 

What will you focus on in your new role?

“I lead the Inside Sales teams in the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. My focus will be on streamlining sales processes, improving workflows, and making smarter use of systems and data. But ultimately, people make the difference. A safe, open, and reliable work environment is essential and we build that together.”

 

How have you experienced the team and company culture so far?

“What stood out to me right away is the down-to-earth yet warm style at Veko. People are committed, work with passion and craftsmanship, and there’s plenty of room for initiative. I really value the open atmosphere, where humour, clarity, and mutual support come naturally. To me, trust is the foundation of any strong team.”

 

What do you want to learn in this role?

“I want to deepen my understanding of the technical aspects of our products. Since production takes place in Schagen, I have the opportunity to see that process up close. That will help me align our sales processes even more closely with the product and contribute effectively to ongoing development.”

 

What strengths do you bring to help Veko grow further?

“My positive mindset, international sales experience, and my belief in giving teams freedom and autonomy. I’m clear when needed, but most of all I want to make sure people feel heard and empowered to bring out their best.”

 

Finally, what developments are you most excited about?

“Our growth demands both action and collaboration, and Veko offers a great foundation for that. I’m also looking forward to the launch of our updated Magnus Narrow, a powerful, energy-efficient LED line lighting solution developed specifically for narrow aisles in industrial spaces. This product highlights our focus on innovation, sustainability, and tailored solutions in a rapidly changing market.”
