Sustainability at Veko
At Veko Lightsystems, sustainability is not a standalone initiative, it’s embedded in everything we do, from operations to product development. As a specialist in industrial LED line lighting, we design and manufacture solutions that are not only energy-efficient, but also contribute to a circular economy.
Our biggest environmental impact lies with our customers, during the use phase of lighting. That’s why we combine high-efficiency LED technology with smart light management systems to prevent unnecessary energy consumption.
Net-zero by 2045
Veko is part of the Fagerhult Group. The group’s shared net-zero targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), making them scientifically validated and internationally recognized.
Our goals:
2030: 70% reduction in CO₂ emissions (scope 1 & 2), 30% reduction in scope 3
2045: Full net-zero emissions
With this roadmap, Veko is working systematically towards sustainable improvements in its products, processes, and value chain.

FAQ
Through continuous innovation, we make our products more sustainable by using fewer materials and lowering energy consumption.
Sustainable in both product and process
At Veko, sustainability goes beyond efficient lighting. We aim to make a positive impact at every step in the value chain.
In 2024, we were proud to receive the Wecycle Award, a recognition from Stichting OPEN for our contribution to recycling fluorescent lighting fixtures and advancing product circularity.
That same year, we also became a sustainability partner of E. van Wijk, our logistics provider. This partnership ensures that all transport now uses 50% HVO fuel, a sustainable alternative to fossil diesel. In 2025, we will take the next step toward 100% HVO, further reducing our transport-related CO₂ emissions and contributing to a cleaner supply chain.
Through these initiatives, we reinforce our commitment to a circular economy and to providing sustainable lighting solutions for every application.

Sustainable collaboration between Veko and BOAL
Since 1975, Veko Lightsystems has worked closely with BOAL Extrusion in the production of aluminium profiles for our light line systems. This long-standing partnership is built on shared values: quality, innovation, and a strong focus on sustainability.
Aluminium as a base material has been a deliberate choice for Veko for decades. It is lightweight, robust, energy-efficient, and fully recyclable. Thanks to these properties, aluminium profiles provide a solid foundation for sustainable light line solutions with a long service life.
As of 1 January 2026, Veko has transitioned to Blue by BOAL. This means that our aluminium profiles are produced using a high percentage of recycled material and low-carbon aluminium. The environmental performance of Blue by BOAL is documented in an independently verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2. This makes the CO₂ reduction and circularity of the profiles transparent and demonstrable.
This measurable CO₂ reduction is not only beneficial for the environment, but also for our customers. Due to increasingly stringent regulations, such as the CSRD reporting requirements, more organisations are required to disclose and report the environmental impact of the materials they use. Thanks to the EPDs of Blue by BOAL, customers have direct access to reliable, internationally recognised data that can easily be incorporated into sustainability reports, tenders, and certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED, and DGNB.
In addition to transitioning to Blue by BOAL, Veko has further optimised the profile design. The new design uses 15% less aluminium, without compromising on quality, performance, or structural integrity. This results in a lighter profile, delivering benefits across the entire value chain: more efficient production, easier installation, reduced transport impact, and a further reduction of the carbon footprint.
By combining reduced material usage, high-quality recycled and low-carbon aluminium, and transparent, certified environmental data, Veko and BOAL are jointly strengthening their commitment to a circular economy. In doing so, Veko not only provides high-quality and future-proof lighting solutions, but also actively supports customers in meeting current and future sustainability legislation.
Sustainable projects
When making a building more sustainable, lighting is often overlooked, even though it is a big factor in energy savings. Renovating from fluorescent to LED can yield energy savings of over 50%. When a Light Management System is incorporated, these savings can even reach 80%. LED lighting has a return on investment of 3 to 5 years at most. If you already have Veko lighting installed, the return on investment is only 2 years in most cases. Examples of how we can help you become more sustainable.
